In Spain, UD San Sebastián de los Reyes goalkeeper Alejandro Rebollo has joined Madrid-based Getafe CF on a four-year deal. Getafe, who finished in 13th place in their first season in the Primera División, have also announced that Argentinian left-back Mariano Pernía has signed a new three-year contract.

Over the border in Portugal, Gil Vicente FC have recruited GD Estoril-Praia goalkeeper Jorge Baptista as well as former CD Nacional midfielder Gouveia. The club needed a goalkeeper after Adriano left when his contract expired. Meanwhile, SuperLiga rivals CF Os Belenenses have landed ex-AC Ajaccio central defender Gaspar on a two-year deal as they look to replace departed anchormen Wilson and Renato.

Another goalkeeper on the move is talented Belgian Ruud Boffin. The KRC Genk youngster has been tempted across the border on a four-year contract by UEFA Champions League semi-finalists PSV Eindhoven. The 17-year-old will join the club's youth system with a view to a quick rise up the ranks into the first team.

Elsewhere in the Netherlands, NEC Nijmegen have signed Hungarian international goalkeeper Gábor Babos on a one-year loan from Feyenoord. The 30-year-old was the Eredivisie's custodian of the year in 2004 with NAC Breda, earning a transfer to Feyenoord. However, he has been unable to dislodge Patrick Lodewijks from his first-choice berth at De Kuip.

In Germany, Swiss Under-21 international goalkeeper Diego Benaglio has turned down a new contract with VfB Stuttgart and decided to join Portuguese side CD Nacional instead. The 21-year-old has signed a four-year contract with the team from the island of Madeira. Also in the Bundesliga, 30-year-old former German international Michael Hartmann has accepted a two-year extension to his contract with relegated FC Hansa Rostock.

Finally, with the Polish Ekstraklasa on a brief break for the national team's FIFA World Cup qualifier against Azerbaijan, the sides to be promoted to the top flight were decided. Arka Gdynia return to the élite after 23 years away, while Kolporter Korona Kielce and GKS Belchatow will also taste Ekstraklasa football in 2005/06. A fourth team may yet be promoted to the top tier via the promotion/relegation play-off.
