Cartilage tear
The 32-year-old Norwegian international, who scored United's winning goal in the 1999 UEFA Champions League final, has not played since the FA Cup final win against Millwall FC in May 2004. "He has had a cartilage tear. It is a very recent injury," said Swedish knee specialist Lars Petersson, who operated on the player last year.
Future in doubt
It had been hoped Solskjær could return for United by October, but no date has yet been set for his next attempt at a comeback. Petersson, who had been confident of the forward's future when ruling him out of the 2004/05 season, said he could not be "100 per cent sure" that Solskjær would be able to play again for club or country.
