Juventus FC defender Paolo Montero could be out for a month after damaging his left knee.
Exploratory surgery
The Uruguayan international is to have exploratory surgery in the next few days to determine the extent of the injury initially suffered a week ago last Sunday in the 1-1 draw with Como Calcio. He is definitely out of Juventus's UEFA Champions League trip to Newcastle United FC next week.
Defensive problems
Montero, 31, is in his seventh season with the Turin club and will be much missed having played in all three Champions League games so far to help Juventus top Group E with seven points. The Serie A side are already without defenders Gianluca Pessotto and Emiliano Moretti and coach Marcello Lippi may decide to move Lilian Thuram or Igor Tudor to centre-back for Saturday's domestic encounter with Internazionale FC.
