Brugge get Gvozdenovic

FK Crvena Zvezda captain Ivan Gvozdenovic has joined Belgian champions Club Brugge KV.

European challenge
The 25-year-old Serbian midfield player interrupted his honeymoon on the Greek island of Rhodes to sign a five-year deal. After seven years with Crvena Zvezda, he said he was now looking forward to the challenge of UEFA Champions League football with Brugge, who will play in the third qualifying round in August.

'High level'
"I am very glad," he said. "Every player wants to play in one of the big leagues in western Europe and Belgium football is at a high level. Brugge, like [RSC] Anderlecht, are a big club and we will do our best to qualify for the Champions League. This is important for me and the reason I turned down other clubs who were offering better financial terms."

'I'm not scared'
Gvozdenovic, who has one international cap, won two league titles and three cups with Crvena Zvezda and wore the captain's armband for the past two years. "I've spent a long time with Crvena Zvezda," he said. "This is a big step for me but I'm not scared, I have confidence in myself."
