Gareth Bale emphasised the value of Marcelo's "amazing goal" when he looked back on Real Madrid CF's 2-0 triumph at FC Schalke 04 in the first leg of their round of 16 tie. "It was important to get that second goal," said the Wales forward after Madrid's record-equalling tenth straight UEFA Champions League win. He added ahead of the return leg in the Spanish capital on 10 March: "The main thing was to get a positive result to bring back to the Bernabéu."
