Panathinaikos lose Kyrgiakos

Panathinaikos FC central defender Sotirios Kyrgiakos is out until the new year.
Panathinaikos FC central defender Sotirios Kyrgiakos will not play again this year after damaging knee ligaments during last night's UEFA Champions League encounter with Rangers FC.

Stretchered off
The 24-year-old was stretchered off midway through the 1-1 draw in Athens and will miss the remainder of the tournament's group stage. Kyrgiakos is also out of Greece's final UEFA EURO 2004™ qualifier against Northern Ireland.

Latest setback
It is the second serious injury setback for Panathinaikos in a week after striker Emmanuel Olisadebe was ruled out until January after knee surgery. Kyrgiakos is expected to be missing for a similar length of time.
