Perrin starts goalkeeper search

Olympique de Marseille coach Alain Perrin has lost Cédric Carasso for six months with a knee ligament injury.

Olympique de Marseille reserve goalkeeper Cédric Carasso has suffered a serious knee injury and will be sidelined for between five and six months.

Torn ligaments
The 21-year-old sustained the injury in Monday's charity game against France's 1998 FIFA World Cup side in aid of the victims of the Algerian earthquake. He was carried off the field in the 73rd minute and medical examinations have since shown he has torn ligaments in his knee.

'No rush' for replacement
"It means five or six months off," said Marseille coach Alain Perrin. Marseille are now left with just two goalkeepers - Croatian Vedran Runje and third-choice Jérémie Gavanon, who is only 20.

"We'll try to find someone but there is no rush," Perrin said, when asked about bringing in another keeper. He added that a move for France goalkeeper Fabien Barthez, currently out of favour at Manchester United FC, was a "possibility" although he stressed: "We'll open negotiations with several clubs."
