Spain to have five clubs in Champions League

Sevilla FC's UEFA Europa League triumph over FC Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk means there will be five Spanish clubs in next season's UEFA Champions League, with four starting in the group stage.

Spain will have five teams involved in next season's UEFA Champions League following Sevilla FC's UEFA Europa League triumph.

NEXT SEASON'S FULL GROUP STAGE LINEUP

A change in regulations announced in 2013 determined that from 2014/15 the UEFA Europa League winners would qualify for the following season's UEFA Champions League play-offs at least.

However, as both of this term's UEFA Champions League finalists – Juventus and FC Barcelona – are already in the 2015/16 group stage by virtue of their domestic league finishes, Sevilla, who beat FC Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk 3-2 in Warsaw on Wednesday, will also not need to qualify.

Instead, they will go directly into the group stage along with the top three in Spain: Barcelona, Real Madrid CF and Club Atlético de Madrid. Valencia CF, who finished fourth in the Liga, will enter the play-offs.

Dnipro could still be involved in next season's UEFA Champions League – from the third qualifying round – should they pip FC Shakhtar Donetsk to second spot in the Ukrainian Premier League when the campaign concludes on Saturday.
