As the UEFA Champions League returns this week, adidas has unveiled the Finale Milano – the official match ball for the knockout stages and final of this season's competition.

Taking inspiration from Milan, the host city for the 2016 UEFA Champions League final on 28 May, the design includes some of the city's most iconic symbols. The Teatro alla Scalais features alongside the famous stairs of San Siro, the home ground of AC Milan and Internazionale Milano and the setting for this year's final.

The surrounding stars on the ball each have a striking design but also contribute to the ball's performance, with the thermally bonded star panels – based on the design of the UEFA Champions League logo – providing a seamless surface for improved first touch. The outer coating texture, consistent across all adidas UEFA Champions League official match balls, provides optimal grip.

The adidas Finale Milano will be used during UEFA Champions League matches from tomorrow night, when Paris Saint-Germain take on Chelsea and Benfica meet Zenit.
