Atlético Madrid struck seven and Real Madrid scored six, but it was a frustrating weekend for the likes of Bayern München, Manchester City and Borussia Dortmund.

Arsenal 3-2 Swansea (Walcott 26 33, Özil 57; Sigurdsson 38, Borja González 66)
The Gunners, who had Granit Xhaka sent off in the second half, conceded for the first time in over 400 minutes but extended their unbeaten run in all competitions to ten games – since their 4-3 opening-day defeat by Liverpool.

Nancy 1-2 Paris (A. Diarra 55; Lucas 13, Cavani 18)
Edinson Cavani made it 15 goals in his last 11 appearances for club and country, while Lucas Moura has now found the net in four of his last six Ligue 1 appearances.

Basel 3-0 Luzern (Doumbia 25, M. Lang 55, Elyounoussi 89)
Basel bounced back from a loss and a draw in their last two matches to cement their place at the Swiss Super League summit.

Pirin 1-3 Ludogorets (Mladenov 15; Moţi 7, Cafú 23, Lukoki 78)
Ludogorets have now won five consecutive league games, scoring at least three goals in each. Jonathan Cafú struck his fourth in as many A League outings while Jody Lukoki broke his duck at the 26th attempt.

Napoli lost ground at the Serie A summit with a rare home defeat; they had won their previous ten games in all competitions at the Stadio San Paolo.

Kayserispor 0-1 Beşiktaş (Ömer Şişmanoğlu 67)
Beşiktaş are now ten matches unbeaten in regulation time this season and have scored in each of their last 22 outings.

Chornomorets Odesa 1-1 Dynamo Kyiv (Khacheridi og 90+4; Júnior Moraes 30)
Dynamo looked set to pick up just their third victory in their last eight games before Yevhen Khacheridi's last-gasp own goal.

1° Dezembro 1-2 Benfica (Águas 61; Danilo 49, Luisão 90+6)
Danilo scored on his debut and Luisão struck for the first time since UEFA Champions League matchday four last season as Benfica reached the fourth round of the Portuguese Cup.

Manchester City 1-1 Everton (Nolito 72; Lukaku 64)
Having opened the season with ten wins on the bounce, City are now without a victory in three. Kevin De Bruyne and Sergio Agüero both missed penalties, meaning City have failed to convert half of their eight spot kicks this term.

Celtic 2-0 Motherwell (Sinclair 18, Dembélé 87pen)
The Scottish Premiership leaders are now 21 matches unbeaten at home (W18 D3). Moussa Dembélé has scored 15 goals in his last 17 games for club and country.

Mönchengladbach 0-0 Hamburg
Gladbach had an extra man for 65 minutes – Cléber sent off for Hamburg – but could not find a breakthrough despite being awarded two penalties. André Hahn and Lars Stindl both missed from the spot.

Joshua Kimmich's sixth goal in his last seven appearances for club and country was not enough to prevent Bayern drawing their second straight Bundesliga game. Carlo Ancelotti had started his tenure with five successive league wins.

Fedor Kudryashov and César Navas were both sent off as Rostov suffered a fourth Russian Premier League loss of the season.

PSV 1-1 Heracles (Pereiro 41; Armenteros 39)
PSV drew their third straight game in all competitions and have now failed to win four of their nine Eredivisie assignments this season.

Tottenham's five-game winning run came to an end, though the north London side remain the only undefeated team in the Premier League courtesy of Dele Alli's late effort.

Leverkusen have lost three of their four Bundesliga away games this season.

CSKA Moskva 1-0 Ufa (V. Berezutski 18)
CSKA have now taken seven points from their opening three home Premier League games after Vasili Berezutski scored his first top-flight goal since October 2014.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang turned in Ousmane Dembélé's cross three minutes after having a penalty saved and Emre Mor was dismissed late on as Dortmund set a new club record of 25 home Bundesliga games unbeaten.

Betis 1-6 Real Madrid (Cejudo 55; Varane 4, Benzema 31, Marcelo 39, Isco 45 62, Ronaldo 78)
Madrid had drawn four in a row before this victory and are now unbeaten in 22 in all competitions. Cristiano Ronaldo rounded off the scoring to make it six goals in his last three appearances.

Famalicao 0-1 Sporting CP (Marković 10)
Lazar Marković scored the only goal – his second in as many games – on Thursday as Sporting made it to the fourth round of the Portuguese Cup. Jorge Jesus rested Sebastián Coates, Ruben Semedo and Bryan Ruiz against the second-tier side.

Pogoń 3-2 Legia Warszawa (Fraczczak 7, Gyurcsó 40pen, Murawski 72; Radović 24 74)

Nabil Fekir was sent off after 28 minutes as Lyon remained without an away victory since their Ligue 1 opener in August.
