Buriak lined up by Dynamo

The former Ukraine boss Leonid Buriak will take over from the resigning Jozsef Szabo as coach of FC Dynamo Kyiv.

Final game
The 65-year-old Szabo will take charge of the final match of his year-long tenure tonight against FC Shakhtar Donetsk, who have pipped Dynamo to the Ukrainian title. Ukraine's UEFA EURO 2004™ qualifying coach Buriak, 51, is then expected to step up from his current role as sports director for the 2005/06 season and Dynamo's Champions League bid, which begins in the second qualifying round in the last week of July.

Friday decision
Dynamo president Igor Surkis said: "I was hoping Szabo would stay on at least until the end of the year. But his health prevents him from doing that, and we cannot make him stay. Following his resignation, Leonid Buriak will most likely take over. Officially, we will make this decision on Friday 17 June, when we get together to analyse the season."

Super Cup bow
Buriak and Dynamo will discover their possible Champions League opposition on 24 June when the draw for the first and second qualifying rounds is made in Nyon. His first competitive game will be the Ukrainian Super Cup in Odessa in July, against the side Dynamo defeated in last month's Ukrainian Cup final - Shakhtar.
