Waterreus wins Rangers extension

Rangers FC's Dutch goalkeeper Ronald Waterreus has signed a new contract with the Scottish champions.

Rangers FC goalkeeper Ronald Waterreus has signed a new contract that will keep him with the Scottish champions until the end of the season.

January move
The 34-year-old Dutch international moved to Ibrox from Manchester City FC in January, joining on a one-year deal as cover for first choice Stefan Klos. He went on to make 13 appearances for the club, who clinched the Scottish Premier League title on the final day of the 2004/05 campaign, and has remained in the starting lineup this season despite Klos's return from injury.

Real enjoyment
"It's nice to have been given the recognition for what I did last season and it was easy for me to agree to a new contract," Waterreus told the Rangers website. "I have really enjoyed my time with Rangers. Last season was terrific as we won two major trophies and it is always great to win prizes - no matter what age you are."
