Internazionale FC striker Christian Vieri will miss the UEFA Champions League Group D meeting with Olympique Lyonnais tomorrow after failing to recover from a twisted ankle.
Doubts over Crespo
The 29-year-old Italian international suffered the injury to his left ankle during Sunday's 2-1 win over AC Chievo Verona, when he scored both the Milan club's goals. Vieri's absence is a headache for Inter's Argentinian coach, Héctor Cúper, given the doubts over the fitness of his fellow striker Hernán Crespo.
Crespo missed the match against Chievo after sustaining a hip injury against AFC Ajax last week and is still training separately from his team-mates, although it is thought Cúper will risk him. Crespo has scored all Inter's goals in the current Champions League campaign, striking twice in the 2-2 draw at Rosenborg BK before hitting the winner against Ajax.
Cúper's other attacking options are scarce. Mohamed Kallon and Nicola Ventola are still injured, leaving just Alvaro Recoba as his one fit forward.
