Inter bolster Argentinian ties

FC Internazionale Milano have signed US Città di Palermo's Argentinian winger Mariano Gonzalez and awarded defender Nicolás Burdisso a new deal.

FC Internazionale Milano have signed Argentinian winger Mariano González on a one-season loan from US Città di Palermo and have awarded a new two-year contract to defender Nicolás Burdisso.

Versatile forward
González, 25, has played 51 games, scoring four goals for Palermo since joining from Argentinian side Racing Club de Avellaneda ahead of the 2004/05 campaign. A versatile player, he can operate on either flank or just behind the forwards and could take a key role in Inter's UEFA Champions League challenge with the Nerazzurri in Group B along with FC Bayern München, Sporting Clube de Portugal and FC Spartak Moskva.

Two-year extension
Meanwhile Burdisso, whose previous deal was due to expire in 2007, has extended his Inter stay by two more seasons. The Argentinian international landed in Milan from CA Boca Juniors in summer 2004. He made only eight Serie A appearances during his first term, but doubled that figure in 2005/06 and featured three times at this summer's FIFA World Cup.

César departure
One South American who is leaving the San Siro is Brazilian left winger César Aparceido, who has been allowed to join SC Corinthians in his homeland on loan. The 31-year-old joined Inter from S.S. Lazio in January and played eight times for the Nerazzurri in Serie A, scoring one goal, and also featured twice in the UEFA Champions League.
