FC Steaua Bucuresti have made Korona Kielce defender Paweł Golański their sixth major summer signing as they prepare for UEFA Champions League qualifying.
The 24-year-old former ŁKS Łódź player has signed a three-year contract with Steaua, who were runners-up in LIGA I in 2006/07, and is the first Polish player ever to be registered with a Romanian club. He arrives at Steaua three weeks ahead of their European opener against Polish champions Zagłębie Lubin in the UEFA Champions League second qualifying round on 31 July an 8 August.
Capped five times for Poland, Golański scored his first goal for his country in a 4-0 friendly win against Estonia on 3 February. He scored three goals in 48 league appearances for Korona over the last two seasons and will be joined at Steaua by fellow newcomers Valentin Badoi, Adrian Neaga, Mihai Gurita, Eric Bicfalvi and Nigerian defender Ifeanyi Emeghara.
