AC Milan have signed United States defender Oguchi Onyewu as a free agent following the expiry of his contract with R. Standard de Liège, the 27-year-old penning a three-year deal.

AC Milan have signed United States defender Oguchi Onyewu as a free agent following the expiry of his contract with R. Standard de Liège.

Group stage

The 27-year-old, who has penned a three-year deal, was a key member of the US side that reached the recent FIFA Confederations Cup final in South Africa and has represented his country on 46 occasions. The former FC Metz and Newcastle United FC player joined Standard in 2004 and went on to make 139 league appearances. Milan return to the UEFA Champions league group stage this season after a one-year absence.
