Whatever the outcome of this encounter, FC Bayern München will finish winners of UEFA Champions League Group F while GNK Dinamo Zagreb will end the campaign in fourth place. Nevertheless, there is plenty of motivation for the home team after they succumbed 5-0 in the reverse fixture.

• In Munich on 29 September, Robert Lewandowski scored a hat-trick with Douglas Costa and Mario Götze also on target. It was the first contest between the sides on the European stage and the first time Bayern had met opponents from Croatia.

Match background

Dinamo
• Dinamo have not won in 11 matches against German sides, drawing two. Their best home performance was a 2-2 draw with 1. FC Magdeburg in the 1976/77 UEFA Cup second round (agg: 2-4).

• They began this campaign with a 2-1 victory over Arsenal FC, their first in 16 UEFA Champions League group stage fixtures (L13 D2) since a 3-0 win at home to SK Sturm Graz on matchday three in 1999/2000.

• In their double header with Olympiacos FC the Zagreb club lost 1-0 at home and 2-1 away. On matchday five they went down 3-0 in London.

• This is the fifth time Dinamo have failed to qualify from the group stage in five attempts – 1998/99, 1999/2000, 2011/12 and 2012/13 were their previous participations.

• The German title holders, who are in their 19th group stage campaign, reached the UEFA Champions League semi-finals for the fourth time in a row last term, going out against FC Barcelona (0-3 away, 3-2 home).
