Aquilani given Azzurri chance

Italy coach Roberto Donadoni has called up Under-21 midfielder Alberto Aquilani and AC Milan's Cristian Brocchi for his squad to face Turkey in a friendly.

Italy coach Roberto Donadoni has promoted Under-21 midfielder Alberto Aquilani to the senior squad for Wednesday's friendly against Turkey in Bergamo.

Uncapped pair
The AS Roma player, who helped Italy qualify for the 2007 UEFA European Under-21 Championship, is one of two uncapped men in the 20-strong party along with Cristian Brocchi, who has scored in his last two outings for AC Milan. S.S. Lazio striker Tommaso Rocchi has been recalled along with Milan forward Alberto Gilardino, omitted for the 3-1 UEFA EURO 2008™ qualifying victory in Georgia last month which left the world champions third in Group B.

Del Piero injured

The duo replace Alessandro Del Piero, who suffered a thigh injury on Saturday for Juventus and is out for a month, and Francesco Totti. The AS Roma captain is not ready for an international return following an ankle injury despite his two goals against Milan on Saturday.
