Lassine gets the call

Patrick Lassine has received his first Luxembourg call-up for the upcoming UEFA EURO 2004™ qualifiers.

Luxembourg coach Allan Simonsen has named an 18-man squad for the forthcoming UEFA EURO 2004™ qualifiers against Bosnia-Herzegovina on 29 March and Norway on 2 April.

Lassine call-up
The major news is that defender Patrick Lassine of AS Jeuness Esch has received his first call-up. "I have watched him for quite some time now," Simonsen said. "In the two upcoming matches he will not start, but I will have enough time to take a closer look at him."

Two foreign-based inclusions
Simonsen has chosen two foreign-based players in his squad - Jeff Strasser of VfL Borussia Mönchengladbach and Stéphane Gillet of Paris Saint-Germain FC. Manuel Cardoni, Marcel Christophe and Daniel Huss have all been called up, but it is still doubtful whether they will be fit for this weekend's game.

Injury worries
“I am expecting that the muscle injuries of all three of them should be healed for the match in Bosnia," Simonsen said. "If this is not the case, I am ready to call up an additional player."

Luxembourg squad
Besic, Gillet, Engeldinger, Federspiel, Hoffmann, Lassine, Peters, Schauls, Cardoni, Di Domenico, Leweck, Molitor, Remy, Schneider, Strasser, Braun, Christophe, Huss.
