AC Perugia have strengthened their attacking options by signing Alessandro Iannuzzi on a free transfer.

Back in football
The 28-year-old forward had been without a club since last summer, when his contract with Serie B side Messina FC expired. Perugia coach Serse Cosmi had been looking for reinforcements after a poor start in Serie A, where they lie third from bottom having failed to win a single game.

Lazio start
Iannuzzi, who has signed a short-term contract until June, is a product of the S.S. Lazio youth system. He made his debut in Serie A with Lazio in 1995/96 and subsequently went on to play for Vicenza Calcio, US Lecce and Reggina Calcio.

European hope
Iannuzzi will not be eligible for the return leg of the UEFA Cup second-round tie against FC Aris Thessaloniki in Greece on 27 November, but could possibly be registered in time for the third round should Perugia progress. In their first meeting at the Curi stadium, the Italian side won 2-0.
