Wamberto back at Standard

Brazilian striker Wamberto has returned to R. Standard de Liège after spending the last six months at RAEC Mons.

Ajax experience
The 29-year-old played for Standard for two seasons before leaving to join AFC Ajax in 1998. He went on to enjoy a five-year spell with the Amsterdam club, scoring 36 goals in 156 appearances, prior to moving to Mons in the winter.

Two-year deal
The diminutive forward, whose full name is Wamberto de Jesus Sousa Campos, has agreed a two-year contract. Standard will take part in the UEFA Cup after finishing third in the First Division last season.
