Pancrate makes Sochaux move

Winger Fabrice Pancrate will spend the season at FC Sochaux-Montbéliard on loan from Paris Saint-Germain FC while Alvaro Santos has moved to RC Strasbourg.

Fabrice Pancrate will spend the season at FC Sochaux-Montbéliard after agreeing a loan switch from Paris Saint-Germain FC while Uruguayan striker Gonzalo Vargas made a similar move from AS Monaco FC.

Sochaux changes
The 27-year-old winger Pancrate will replace Brazilian Alvaro Santos at UEFA Cup contenders Sochaux after the forward, also 27, signed a loan deal with RC Strasbourg. Pancrate was loaned to Spanish club Real Betis Balompié for the second half of last term, and scored once in seven league games. He has made 73 Ligue 1 appearances for PSG since moving to the French capital in 2004 from Le Mans UC 72.

Vargas move
Meanwhile, 25-year-old Vargas, nicknamed 'El Turbo' because of his pace, leaves Monaco for the remainder of the season after making only eight Ligue 1 appearances in the principality in his first campaign at the club. Capped ten times by Uruguay, he was named the best striker in the Argentinian league in 2006 when he was at CD Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata. Sochaux will meet Panionios NFC in the first round of the UEFA Cup.
