Gamarra to leave AEK

Paraguayan international Carlos Gamarra claims that he will quit AEK Athens FC this summer.

Paraguayan international Carlos Gamarra says that he will leave AEK Athens FC this summer.

‘I'm leaving AEK’
The defender has warned the club that he will move on at the end of the season and has already set his sights on a transfer to a bigger club. "I'm leaving AEK in the summer when my contract ends - I'm definitely going to leave," he said. "I will probably move to a bigger team in Europe and a bigger and tougher championship."

'Very tiring'
Gamarra has also announced that he will retire from international football after the 2002 FIFA World Cup finals in Korea/Japan. "It is very tiring to play every Sunday in Greece and then travel for many hours in order to play in midweek with the national team, and then having to travel all the way back again," he added.

UEFA Cup date

AEK face Internazionale FC in the fourth round of the UEFA Cup in February.
