FC Schalke 04 goalkeeper Lars Unnerstall looks set to be out of action for several weeks after suffering a shoulder injury on Sunday.

Unnerstall sustained the problem in a collision with Mario Mandžukić during Schalke's 4-0 Bundesliga win against VfL Wolfsburg. Huub Stevens is already without first-choice keeper Ralf Fährmann because of a ruptured cruciate ligament and is now likely to turn to Timo Hildebrand to fill the void between the posts.

Hildebrand came on for the second half against Wolfsburg to make his Schalke league debut, having joined last October. His only previous appearance for the club came on UEFA Europa League matchday six, and he could be back on European duty for Thursday's round of 32 second leg at home to FC Viktoria Plzeň. The opening instalment ended 1-1.
