Beveren beckons for Skulason

Icelandic defender Olafur Ingi Skulason has joined Belgian side KSK Beveren from Arsenal FC.

Partnership agreement
The 21-year-old has joined the Belgian Cup runners-up to replace Latvian international defender Igors Stepanovs, who yesterday left the club to join Swiss side Grasshopper-Club. His move is the latest deal in a partnership agreement between Beveren and the reigning English champions.

Work permit
Skulason joined Arsenal two years ago from Fylkir and made his debut in a League Cup game against Wolverhampton Wanderers FC in December 2003. Beveren hope to have his work permit in place by next week so he can join them in preparing for league and UEFA Cup football in the coming season.
