UEFA Cup hopefuls KSK Beveren could be without defender Diabis Diawara for the rest of the season after the Ivorian broke his ankle and tore the surrounding ligaments at the weekend.
Stand-out tie
The 23-year-old was caught by a challenge from FC Brussels' Vladimir Voskoboinikov moments before the halfway stage of Beveren's 3-1 win on Saturday and is certain to miss the remainder of the club's UEFA Cup Group G campaign, including the stand-out tie against SL Benfica in December.
Helleputte unhappy
The length of his lay-off has not been ascertained but, after having the ankle reset in hospital on Saturday night, Diawara will undergo further surgery next week. "We have won a little today and lost a lot," said Beveren coach Herman Helleputte. "The victory has been overshadowed by this heavy injury blow to Diabis."
