Real Betis Balompié midfield player Benjamín Zarandona will be out until the new year after undergoing surgery on a leg injury today.
Benjamín faces four to five weeks on the sidelines after the operation on the adductor muscle at the top of his leg. "If there are no complications, he will be out of action for a month and then will be able to start training again," said a Betis club doctor.
The 26-year-old has struggled with groin and hernia problems this season, and has made just three appearances including three minutes of the league game at Club Atlético de Madrid on 24 November. Betis take a 1-0 first-leg lead to AJ Auxerre in the third round of the UEFA Cup next Thursday.
