Poyet completes Spurs set-up

The former Tottenham Hotspur FC midfielder Gustavo Poyet has left Leeds United AFC to return to White Hart Lane as an assistant to Juande Ramos.

Tottenham Hotspur FC have confirmed the appointment of Gus Poyet as an assistant to new manager Juande Ramos.

European success
The 39-year-old Uruguayan, who played at White Hart Lane between 2001 and 2004, had been assistant to Dennis Wise at third-tier side Leeds United AFC. He will work alongside Marcos Álvarez – part of Ramos's coaching team at Sevilla FC – as one of Tottenham's two first-team coaches. Poyet left Argentina's CA River Plate for Real Zaragoza in 1990 and went on to enjoy a successful career in Spain, helping the club defeat Arsenal FC in the 1995 UEFA Cup Winners' Cup final. He won that trophy again in 1998 in the colours of Chelsea FC before joining Spurs.
