Swiss champions FC Zürich have signed Swedish Under-21 international Emra Tahirovic from LOSC Lille Métropole.
Bosnian émigré
The 20-year-old forward has joined Bernard Challandes' side on loan until the end of the season with a view to sealing a four-year contract. Born in Sarajevo, Tahirovic moved to Sweden as a youngster to escape the conflicts in the former Yugoslavia, starting his professional career at Halmstads BK having been a trainee with local team Örebro SK.
Swedish team-mates
Capped twice by Sweden at U21 level, he transferred to Lille last summer but has failed to win a regular place at the Ligue 1 club. He will link up with fellow naturalised Swedes Dusan Djuric – a former Halmstad team-mate – and Andres Vasquez at Zürich. Both those players have come in since the conclusion of the UEFA Cup group stage. Zürich meet Hamburger SV in the Round of 32 in February.
