Van Damme extends Anderlecht deal

Belgium defender Jelle Van Damme has extended his contract with RSC Anderlecht for a futher year until June 2011 as they prepare to continue their UEFA Cup campaign.

Belgium defender Jelle Van Damme has extended his contract with RSC Anderlecht for a futher year until June 2011.

Title victory
The 24-year-old former KFC Germinal Beerschot Antwerpen, AFC Ajax, Southampton FC and Werder Bremen player joined Anderlecht in summer 2006 and in his first season helped them successfully defend the Belgian title, although they currently lie sixth. Having exited the UEFA Champions League in the third qualifying round Anderlecht came through the UEFA Cup group stage and next play FC Girondins de Bordeaux in the last 32 next month.
