FC Dinamo Bucuresti have signed up French defender Xavier Méride for the coming season after nearly a month of negotiations.

European experience
The 28-year-old left-sided player had been on trial with the Romanian Cup holders at their training camp in France. Méride, who played five times for RC Lens in the 1998/99 UEFA Champions League, spent the last two seasons on loan from Lens at US Creteil.

Trio of new faces
Méride is the third foreign player to join Dinamo this summer, following Belgian goalkeeper Gregory Delwarte and Serbian midfielder Zoran Beosevic to the Romanian capital. To reach the UEFA Cup proper, Dinamo must overcome a two-legged qualifying round tie against Latvian side FHK Liepajas Metalurgs next month.
