Seedings
England and Serbia secured the top two places in Group 1 on Sunday, the last of the 13 pools to be completed. That left spaces for the two third-placed sides with the best record against the leading pair in their pool. Finland and Malta – the island nation progressing for the first time in a youth competition – took those honours, joining teams including holders Germany, two-time U17 champions Spain, former winners Turkey, Portugal and Switzerland plus 2009 runners-up the Netherlands in the 8 December Elite round draw at 09.30CET in Nyon.
Draw
There will be seven groups of four teams in the Elite round to be played in spring 2010, with the seeding pots to be confirmed. Only the first-placed nations in the single-venue mini-tournaments will join hosts Liechtenstein in the finals from 18-30 May.
