France ease to win in Malta

Malta 0-2 France A goal in each half from Yoan Gouffran and Habib Bellaid secured three more Group 10 points for the visitors.

France moved level with Romania at the top of UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualifying Group 10 as a goal in each half from Yoan Gouffran and Habib Bellaid secured three points in Malta.

SM Caen midfielder Gouffran opened the scoring at the Ta' Qali Stadium just before the quarter-hour, outpacing the home defence and beating goalkeeper Luke Wood to a long ball to give France an early advantage. The win was confirmed inside the final 20 minutes as RC Strasbourg defender Bellaid headed in at the near post to take his side on to seven points from their three games . France are next in action at home to Bosnia-Herzegovina on 12 October while Malta, who have lost their first three games, visit Wales five days later.
