Twenty-eight players vying to win a place in France's final squad for UEFA WOMEN'S EURO 2005™ are today undergoing the third and final day of extensive physical and medical checks at Clairefontaine.

Georges missing
The country's leading players were called together by coach Elisabeth Loisel, who said: "The aim of the gathering is to assess the shape of every player at the end of what's been a hard season." One absentee is the Paris Saint-Germain FC defender Laura Georges, although she will be at the national training centre when the 20-player squad for England is named later this month.

Italy first
The French league season ended last week with Montpellier Hérault SC carrying off the top prize, while the French Cup final will be contested by Olympique Lyonnais and Juvisy FCF on Saturday. Loisel's side open their UEFA European Women's Championship campaign against Italy in Preston on 6 June with games against Norway and France to follow.
