Foot injury floors Gudjónsson

Thórdur Gudjónsson could miss Iceland's next two FIFA World Cup qualifiers after breaking a bone in his foot.

Thórdur Gudjónsson could be out for up to four weeks after he injured his foot during Iceland's 3-2 defeat by Hungary in their FIFA World Cup qualifying tie on Wednesday.

Splintered bone
Tests revealed that the 30-year-old has splintered a bone in his left foot and he is now doubtful for Iceland's next Group 8 games against Malta on 9 October and at home against Sweden four days later.

Bochum blow
Gudjónsson will be unavailable for his club side, VfL Bochum 1848, when they take on Belgian side R. Standard de Liège in the UEFA Cup first round this month, the first leg of which will be played next Thursday. He has yet to start a match this season for the Bundesliga side.
