Madsen injury
AC Milan striker Tomasson has recently been more effective for his country in an attacking midfield role but Olsen has to rethink his options in the wake of Peter Madsen's ankle injury. The absence of a direct replacement for the VfL Bochum 1848 player in the 22-man squad suggests Olsen will push Tomasson forward, despite the fact the latter struggled to impress as a target man in the 3-0 quarter-final defeat by the Czech Republic at UEFA EURO 2004™.
Pedersen form
The only central striker in the squad is Bolton Wanderers FC's Henrik Pedersen who, despite his form in the English Premiership, is unlikely to start either match. Denmark, who drew their Group 2 opener at home to Ukraine last month, travel to Tirana to take on Albania on 9 October before welcoming Turkey to Copenhagen four days later.
Plenty of options
If Tomasson operates up front then Claus Jensen or Martin Jørgensen could take his playmaking role. Olsen said: "We have selected 22 players for two completely different tasks and this squad gives us several options, not least in the attacking midfield area." Olsen, meanwhile, has recalled Daniel Jensen after a heel problem while Brøndby IF trio Asbjørn Sennel, Martin Retov and Thomas Kahlenberg are all included. Defenders Martin Laursen and Kasper Bøgelund are out through injury.
