Jürgen Klinsmann made two late additions to his squad before Germany left on their tour of Asia.
Klinsmann was forced to omit Torsten Frings after the FC Bayern München midfielder bruised his ribs in Saturday's 2-2 draw against VfB Stuttgart, while Frank Baumann also misses out after an ankle problem prevented him from playing in Werder Bremen's 1-1 draw against 1. FC Kaiserslautern. FC Schalke 04 defender Christian Pander was also a late withdrawal.
In the absence of that trio, the coach has stuck to his policy of promoting young players, with Bremen defender Christian Schulz and Kaiserslautern midfielder Marco Engelhardt boarding the plane. "We have been watching both players for a while now," said Klinsmann. Germany play Japan on Thursday (12.10CET), the Korean Republic on Sunday (11.00CET) and Thailand on Tuesday (12.30CET).
