Zlatan Ibrahimović maintained his fine form, scoring a 75th-minute winner to help Sweden come back from a goal down to beat Faroe Islands in 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifying Group C.

Rógvi Baldvinsson had given the hosts a surprising 57th-minute lead, but stung into life, Sweden tied the scores through Alexander Kacaniklic before Ibrahimović hit his 11th goal of the season.

For much of the night, it looked as though inspired Faroe Islands goalkeeper Gunnar Nielsen would keep Sweden at bay. He stood firm to deny two fierce Ibrahimović shots in the first half and was up to the task from Kim Källström's sweetly-struck left-footed effort shortly after the interval.

The Swedes' frustration then was nothing compared to when Baldvinsson opened the scoring for the Faroe Islands. Jonas Olsson's header only half-cleared a long throw-in, and Baldvinsson controlled the loose ball and drilled it low beyond Andreas Isaksson, who was playing his 100th international game.

Erik Hamrén's second-half substitutions turned the match Sweden's way. Kacaniklic and Anders Svensson entered the fray, and minutes later Svensson found Ibrahimović, who slid Kacaniklic in for the equaliser. Ibrahimović then got the winner, running onto Pontus Wernbloom's lobbed pass and, under pressure, powering the ball over the line from point-blank range.
