Strikers on song for Switzerland

Switzerland 4-1 China Alexander Frei and Marco Streller lifted Swiss spirits even further with two goals apiece in Zurich.

Switzerland 4-1 China
Switzerland ended their FIFA World Cup preparations in emphatic style with a 4-1 win in Zurich.

Devastating spell
Jakob Kuhn's strikers made the difference with some devastating finishing in a nine-minute spell around half-time. Alexander Frei opened the scoring in the 40th minute but it was after the interval that the damage was really done. Marco Streller made it two in the 47th minute before Frei converted a penalty two minutes later. Streller then wrapped up the Swiss victory in the 73rd minute after beating the offside trap. Manchester United FC youngster Dong Fangzhou gave China a late consolation.

Players tired
The result is a further boost to Swiss confidence after 1-1 draws with both Ivory Coast and Italy. Kuhn's squad will continue to train in Switzerland before heading to Germany next Thursday. They begin their World Cup campaign five days later with a highly-anticipated match against France in Stuttgart. The coach said: "It wasn't a perfect game but there were plenty of reasons for that. The players have been forced to do a lot in the last two weeks and some were quite tired. The break now can only do us good."
