Miguel Veloso tasted international success on home soil with Portugal at the 2003 UEFA European Under-17 Championship, and 11 years on hopes to add the biggest title of all when they compete in the FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

A veteran of the 2010 finals in South Africa, as well as the run to the UEFA EURO 2012 semis, the FC Dynamo Kyiv midfielder is especially excited by the location of this summer's tournament. "I had the joy and the chance to play in the World Cup in South Africa, and it's a dream for any player to do it again," Veloso told UEFA.com. "Even more so in Brazil, where the fans are fans of football. It will be a unique and unforgettable event."

However, he knows progress will be far from easy, considering Portugal's difficult draw in Group G. "A national team like Germany are always one of the candidates to win any competition," the 27-year-old said. "[We also have] the United States, where football has been developing. And Ghana, who have already won some competitions in Africa and are quite a competitive team, very strong."
