Steven Fletcher, Scotland forward
Relief is the overriding feeling. It was a good performance. We are happy with the way we played and obviously we're delighted to get the three points. If we had got the second [goal], it would have been a bit more comfortable, but we're just happy to get the three points. We've got them on the board now and we can look forward to the next match.

I was pleased with my own performance [although I didn't get on the scoresheet]. As long as we're creating chances, we're happy. If we're not creating chances, we would be asking questions. But, as you saw today, we had a lot of chances. If we keep doing that I'm sure we will score goals. Shaun [Maloney] has been claiming the goal already. It definitely gives us a confidence boost going into the next game against Poland and if we take that performance into Tuesday's match we'll have a great chance.

Gordon Strachan, Scotland manager
As manager, you think "must win, must win" and hopefully get a great performance. But to win and get a great performance was fantastic. After losing the first game the pressure's on you – I know it's Germany but the pressure's on you. To play like that is absolutely outstanding. What was even more outstanding is we practised all week to play against three centre-backs and they went to four – so to reorganise as quickly as we did to play such stunning football was fantastic.

Chanturia: Scotland were better

Giorgi Chanturia, Georgia midfielder
Of course, we are disappointed not to take a point here, but that's football and today they were better than us. They deserved to win. I can only say congratulations to them and now we have to keep going. We have to take three points in our next game.

They had more chances than we did, and that's why they took the three points and we got nothing. We lost so we are all disappointed and now we have to get our heads up for the next game. Our next home match is against Poland and it would be good if we went into that one on the back of our first win.

Temuri Ketsbaia, Georgia coach
We are two or three players short. My players gave 100%. This is the best we can do at the moment.

The Scotland players mostly play in the [English] Premier League. Compare them to the players we have in Georgia and you can see the difference between the pace of the game in Georgia and the Premier League.

When you are away against a good team, in front of great supporters, it's always difficult. My players did OK. It is not the end of the world. Now we have to play in Gibraltar, where we'll try to play more attacking football. That will be a must-win game. This one wasn't.
