Klinsmann gets down to business

Jürgen Klinsmann has named uncapped Werder Bremen defender Frank Fahrenhorst in his first Germany squad.

Borowski back
The 26-year-old Werder Bremen defender is joined in the 19-man party by club-mate Tim Borowski, who won the last of his two caps in October 2002. The talented 19-year-old forward Lukas Podolski will be hoping to make his third international appearance after being called up despite playing in the second division with 1. FC Köln.

Captain Kahn
Klinsmann confirmed that goalkeeper Oliver Kahn will continue as captain, while he agreed to FC Bayern München's request not to select Sebastian Deisler just yet. The coach, who has dropped Fredi Bobic, is also without BV Borussia Dortmund defender Christian Wörns, who has an achilles injury.

Germany squad
Hildebrand, Kahn, Lehmann, Baumann, Fahrenhorst, Friedrich, Hinkel, Lahm, Nowotny, Ballack, Borowski, Ernst, Frings, Schneider, Schweinsteiger, Brdaric, Klose, Kuranyi, Podolski.
