Committee meeting
The 53-year-old, who had been in the post since August 2003, was relieved of his duties after the Football Federation of Belarus's executive committee met on Sunday. Baidachny's team finished fifth in their qualifying pool, although they did win 4-0 at home against Moldova and 1-0 in Scotland. Yuri Puntus, 45, has also been ousted as Under-21 coach.
Caretaker coach
A successor will not be named until early February, allowing plenty of time before the start of the qualification programme for UEFA EURO 2008™ next autumn. Yuri Kurenin has been apppointed caretaker coach for the senior squad, with Yuri Vergeichik, who guided FC Shakhtyor Soligorsk to the 2005 title, doing likewise at U21 level.
