Moldova coach Igor Dobrovolski is to continue in the job for at least another two years after signing a new contract.

Extension
The 40-year-old former international midfielder had been contracted to the Football Association of Moldova until 31 December, but has now extended that deal until 2009. Dobrovolski took charge of the national team 12 months ago, replacing Anatol Teslev.

World Cup focus
Capped as a player by the USSR, the CIS and Russia, Dobrovolski will be allowed to combine his Moldova duties with work at any club until 31 May 2008. From that point, the country's FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign will take priority. Moldova, who finished third bottom of their UEFA EURO 2008™ pool, will face Greece, Israel, Switzerland, Latvia and Luxembourg in World Cup qualification. Dobrovolski will go to Israel in the new year to work out his side's fixture list together with his rival coaches from Group 2. Moldova ended their EURO campaign with three wins – against Bosnia-Herzegovina, Malta and Hungary – and a draw with Turkey.
