The Andorran Football Federation (FAF) has announced former national team goalkeeper Koldo Álvarez as their new coach in place of the long-serving David Rodrigo.
Koldo, 39, won the last of his 79 caps for the principality last June in the 6-0 defeat by England at Wembley in a FIFA World Cup qualifier, while in 2003 he was named by the FAF as his nation's best player of the last 50 years. The former Club Atlético de Madrid custodian succeeds Rodrigo, who had been in charge since May 1999, a length of service in Europe second only to San Marino coach Giampaolo Mazza. Andorra will discover their opponents for UEFA EURO 2012 qualifying when the draw is made on Sunday in Warsaw.
