Ukraine v FYR Macedonia background

After a disappointing opening home match, Ukraine will look to make up some lost ground in UEFA EURO 2016 qualifying Group C as they welcome FYR Macedonia.

• The teams' only two previous meetings were friendly matches: a 0-0 draw in Kyiv in 2003 and a 1-0 win for FYR Macedonia in Skopje in March 2004, in which Goran Stavrevski (26) scored the only goal.

• Ukraine opened their home campaign in Group C with a 1-0 defeat against Slovakia, while FYR Macedonia's first foreign trip in UEFA EURO 2016 qualifying ended in a 5-1 loss to European champions Spain.

• Both teams bounced back from those opening defeats to win on matchday two, Ukraine triumphing 2-0 in Belarus and FYR Macedonia beating Belarus 3-2.

• In four meetings between the nations' clubs in UEFA competition, Ukrainian sides have won three matches to the Macedonian clubs' one.

• The lone meeting between the nations in UEFA age-group tournaments ended in a 3-0 win for Ukraine's Under-19s in 2011.
