Sollied downcast at Brugge bad luck

Club Brugge KV coach Trond Sollied felt his side deserved more than a point against FC Lokomotiv Moskva.

Club Brugge KV coach Trond Sollied felt hard done by after watching his side draw 0-0 with ten-man FC Lokomotiv Moskva in UEFA Champions League Group H. “The result is not as good as we hoped," he said. "We only created three or four good chances but we should have scored three goals tonight.”

'Too defensive'
Sollied went on to criticise his team’s opponents, adding: “We showed tonight that physically we were at the top of our game to begin with, but as the game progressed it got worse and worse because Lokomotiv played so defensively.

'Defended solidly'
“In the first half we defended too deep and allowed Lokomotiv the time and space to build counterattacks. But, in the game as a whole, we were solid in defence and only allowed our opponents one real chance on goal. The only other aspect of our game that I am disappointed with is the fact that we had two players booked for dissent."

'Less respect'
Sollied went on to urge his players to show less respect to opponents in future Champions League matches, adding: "There are four games left in this group and I think we owe our opponents no respect. We can have a big impact in this group if we play our own game. Overall, I have to be satisfied with our performance tonight, if not the result."

'We were unlucky'
Sollied's views were echoed by Brugge midfield player Gert Verheyen, who said: "I am very disappointed and I think we were quite unlucky tonight. We played better in the second half and missed four good chances. I think we deserved to win."

Loskov off
After seeing Dmitri Loskov dismissed six minutes from time for a second bookable offence, Lokomotiv coach Yuri Semin announced himself satisfied with the final result. "I think we played better in the first half and we were unfortunate in our substitutions," he said.

Semin critical
However, Semin was left seething at the performances of some of his players. "James Obiorah was totally non-existent and Narvik Sirkayev only exerted himself for the first few minutes after he came on," he said. "In fact, if you include the sending-off of Loskov, we finished the match with only eight real players, so we can consider ourselves lucky to draw under those circumstances. Therefore, I have to be totally satisfied with a point."

'Good saves'
But Semin reserved some praise for those eight, adding: "Ultimately I think we have to thank our goalkeeper, [Sergei I.] Ovchinnikov, who did much to win us a point. I can only hope our star player, Marat Izmailov, is ready for our next game." The Russians travel to the Camp Nou to face FC Barcelona, the section leaders, next week.
