Hero 'Kobi' credits team-mates

FC Schalke 04's hat-trick hero Levan Kobiashvili hailed his side's "extraordinary performance" after their win against PSV Eindhoven.

A hat-trick from Levan Kobiashvili, including two penalties, gave FC Schalke 04 a 3-0 win against PSV Eindhoven at the Arena Aufschalke in UEFA Champions League Group E. The Georgian international opened the scoring from the spot after a handball by Andre Ooijer. Brazilian midfielder Lincoln hit the post with a fierce drive before half-time and struck the woodwork again on 72 minutes. Goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes could only touch Lincoln's sublime chip on to the crossbar and Kobiashvili was on hand to despatch the rebound. He completed his hat-trick from the spot after Gerald Sibon brought down Fabian Ernst.

Ralf Rangnick, Schalke coach
We did not expect an easy game and it was not. The most important thing was that we stuck to our system the whole time. We did not conceded much in our half, and the win was deserved. If we want to qualify for the next round we have to win at AC Milan, so we will go for the victory there. That is the easiest thing for us to do. We are making progress with each game, the UEFA Champions League is something special. Rafinha and Søren Larsen normally take our penalties but they were not on the pitch so 'Kobi' took the responsibility. He practised them yesterday in training. Now we have to win our last game.

Guus Hiddink, PSV coach
I don't want to make it a long discussion; we deserved to lose. The first penalty was justified, and we made a couple of mistakes in our defending. The second goal was silly, then we took some risks to try to get back in the game, but we did not take out chances at the start of the second half.

Levan Kobiashvili, Schalke winger
I’ve never scored three goals in a game before so I'm obviously very happy. It was an extraordinary performance from the team. I felt confident before both penalties and that's why I took them. The win will give us confidence and we have a good chance of reaching the next round.

Michael Reiziger, PSV defender
It is a crazy group but there is still everything play for. We took too many chances after the break and were punished. German teams always seem to get something even if they aren't playing brilliantly.
