Contreras adds to Betis woes

Goalkeeper Pedro Contreras has become Real Betis Balompié's sixth injury victim after being ruled out for a month with a broken finger.

Training incident
Tests have revealed that the 33-year-old broke a bone in the little finger of his left hand in training on Tuesday prior to the following day's UEFA Champions League Group G match at Liverpool FC. As a result, Contreras will have to rest for three weeks and then undergo physiotherapy for a further week before being able to return to action.

Oliveira heads home
The No1 becomes the Spanish club's sixth casualty with defender Nano, midfielders Miguel Ángel Lozano and Edu, as well as forwards Dani Martín and Ricardo Oliveira already sidelined. Oliveira, out for six months with a knee injury, has been given permission to return home to Brazil to have surgery and go through his rehabilitation process.
