Historic success
McLeish became the first manager to lead a Scottish side into the UEFA Champions League knockout rounds on Tuesday when a 1-1 draw with FC Internazionale Milano earned the Glasgow team second place in Group H. However, the 46-year-old has been under intense pressure in recent weeks following a dismal run of domestic results with Rangers setting a club record of ten games without a win in all competitions.
Murray's decision
Last month Rangers chairman David Murray stated that McLeish's position would be reviewed after the final UEFA Champions League group match, and although the Ibrox outfit have slipped to fifth spot in the Premier League, 17 points behind leaders Celtic FC, reaching the last 16 of the Europe's top club competition has earned McLeish a reprieve.
